Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) will provide the Naval Air Systems Command mission computers to be fitted onto UH-1Y and AH‑1Z helicopters as part of the U.S. Marine Corps‘ upgrade program for H-1 helicopters.
The company said Monday it will deliver FlightPro Gen III mission computers through October 2017 to provide the aircraft with weapons, mission support and video processing functions.
Ike Song, vice president of Northrops’ situational awareness systems business, said the technology works to leverage computing and processing resources for situational awareness and to help streamline workloads.
FlightPro Gen III is part of the company’s Integrated Avionics System that provides users information on system health information and enables integration of new technologies and with other platforms, Northrop said.
UH-1Y and AH-1Z helicopters form the Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadrons.
