Gregory Hayes Appointed UTC President, CEO

Gregory Hayes, formerly senior vice president and chief financial officer at United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), has been appointed president and CEO of the aerospace technology conglomerate.

UTC said Monday the appointment is effective immediately as Chairman and CEO Louis Chenevert has retired.

Hayes held the SVP and CFO roles for six years in addition to his responsibility as director of communications and interactions between the company’s board of directors and investors.

Edward Kangas, lead independent director, has also been named non-executive chairman of the board.

Kangas is a former chairman and CEO of Deloitte and has been a board member of UTC since 2008.

He has also served as chairman of the audit committee and as lead director for the UTC board.
