Simon Szykman, former chief information officer at the Commerce Department, has joined Attain LLC as chief technology officer of the company’s federal services division.
Szykman will oversee Attain’s strategic corporate partnerships and go-to-market strategies,  Attain said Friday.
“As federal services CTO, Simon will play an integral role in Attain’s mission to deliver market leading results to our clients through the best transformational services and solutions that overcome the challenges of complex government missions, †said Manish Agarwal,  federal services president at Attain.
As commerce CTO, Szykman led the Commerce Department’s information technology investments across several bureaus after four years of service as CIO for the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
He is also a former director of the National Coordination Office for Networking and Information Technology Research and Development, where he held responsibility for planning, budget and assessment activities.
Szykman has served as senior policy analyst for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and was the first director of cybersecurity research and development at the Department of Homeland Security.
