General Dynamics to Update US, Australian Sub Combat Control Systems; Mike Eagan Comments

general dynamics logoA General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) business unit has received $50 million in contract modifications to continue modernization work for combat control systems in U.S. and Australian naval submarines.

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems has worked on the AN/BYG-1 combat control systems since 2003,  General Dynamics said Tuesday.

“By introducing our open architecture framework into these legacy systems, we can quickly insert relevant technologies onto the submarine’s open platforms to meet the fast-changing mission needs of today’s fleet, “ said Mike Eagan, vice president and general manager of the integrated platform solutions business line within General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems.

The company integrates technologies built by commercial, defense and academic organizations through the open architecture framework on an annual or biannual basis.
