Bechtel Receives $819M in Naval Nuclear Propulsion Component Funds


BechtelLogoBechtel‘s plant machinery organization has secured close to $820 million in contract funds to continue work naval nuclear propulsion components for U.S. Navy vessels.

The Defense Department said Wednesday the Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington awarded the contract funds as part of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion program.

NAVSEA awarded a new $612.8 million contract to Bechtel and a $206.7 million modification on a separate contract.

Under the new contract,  the Navy will allocate the full funding amount from its fiscal year 2015 shipbuilding and conversion budget at the time of award.

The Navy will obligate $194.5 million in fiscal 2015 other procurement funds at the time of award for the modification.

Bechtel carries out NNP program work in Monroeville, Pennsylvania and Schenectady, New York.
