Tom Enders, CEO of Airbus Group, has said the company is in talks with several interested parties for its defense electronics and border security technology assets, Reuters reported Thursday.
“The decision is that clearly this is not a core business for us and we have started to discuss with possibly interested parties, ” he told Reuters.
Enders added the company’s next step will depend on “who has an interest and who wants to be buying this business or to be a majority partner, ” according to the report.
He made the statements during an interview with Reuters on the sidelines of the maiden flight of the Airbus A320neo passenger jet.
Airbus announced earlier this month it wants to focus on building up its portfolio of satellite, missile, launcher and warplane offerings within its defense and space unit.
