Michael Smith to Lead Huntington Ingalls Growth Strategies in VP Role

Michael Smith, a former executive at BAE Systems, has joined Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) as vice president for business growth.

He will work with senior HII leaders to develop corporate development strategies and act as an interface between the company and its business partners in Washington in his new position, HII said Monday.

Smith will report directly to Mitchell Waldman, VP for government and customer relations.

Prior to HII, he held strategy and development leadership roles at BAE’s land and armaments subsidiary and at its support solutions business.

He also worked at professional services firm Marsh USA as nuclear risk VP.
