George Newstrom: Dell Extends CDC IT Operations Support for 5 Years


George Newstrom,  Dell,  ExecutiveMosaicDell has been awarded a five-year, $120 million contract to support information technology systems and applications at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The company said Monday it has been working with CDC for 11 years to manage infrastructure designed to help agency researchers and administrators monitor threats to public safety, health and security.

George Newstrom, vice president and general manager at Dell Services Federal Government, said the business helps the agency automate IT processes, deploy customized apps and build a centralized help desk system.

Newstrom added the IT services are meant to address system efficiency and cost issues within the agency.

Atlanta-based CDC is responsible for tracking diseases, injuries and disabilities in the U.S. and for developing measures to promote healthy behaviors.
