Chemring to Help Army Build Chemical Agents for Tracking Sensors

ContractChemring Detection Systems has won three contracts worth $3.9 million combined to produce sensors to help the U.S. Army identify, locate and monitor different kinds of chemicals.

The Army wants the company to build a surface contaminant locator, a platform/site air monitor and a multi-sample identifier, Chemring said Thursday.

According to Chemring, the detectors are intended to support the branch’s site assessment, chemical release and decontamination activities.

The Army Contracting Command is the contracting activity for the Next Generation Chemical Detectors Technology Development project and work will occur at the company’s production facility in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Chemring develops technology for military users to detect explosive threats as well as biological, chemical warfare and toxic industrial substances.
