Ed Spitler: Airbus Division Wins USSOCOM Satcom Airtime Services BPA


airbus logoAn Airbus Group subisidiary has won a potential five-year, $32.6 million blanket purchase agreement to deliver L-band satellite airtime services to the United States Special Operations Command.

Airbus Defense and Space will provide USSOCOM satellite communication services through Inmarsat‘s Broadband Global Area Network as well as FleetBroadband and SwiftBroadband networks, Airbus Group said Tuesday.

“This BPA win for comms-on-the-move and comms-on-the-pause applications reflects our long-standing commitment to assuring mission success at every level of military operations by delivering the right mix of satellite connectivity services and applications to the U.S. warfighter, ” said Ed Spitler, Airbus Defense and Space’s president for U.S. government satellite communications.

The contract has one base year and four option years and was awarded by the Pentagon’s defense information technology contracting organization.

Airbus Defense and Space distributes a range of Inmarsat-powered mobile satellite offerings that are intended to support military operations.
