Thales Alenia Space has acquired the space business of U.K.-based software design and engineering services provider Systems Engineering & Assessment Ltd. for an undisclosed amount.
The Thales Group–Finmeccanica joint venture seeks to grow its customer base and gain a foothold in the U.K. electronics and space mission technology market through the acquisition, Thales said Monday.
Martin Gee, chief executive of U.K. operations at Thales Alenia Space, said that SEA’s space technology development work aligns with Thales Alenia Space’s business growth initiatives in the region.
“Through this acquisition, Thales Alenia Space UK is in working order to support the U.K. Space Agency and aspire to reinforce its development in the advanced space technologies, ” said Jean Loic Galle, Thales Alenia Space president and CEO.
Thales Alenia Space has established new offices in Oxfordshire and maintains space propulsion operations in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
