Jim Taylor, a more than 30-year government finance veteran, has been named managing director of the financial management and assurance services line within Grant Thornton‘s global public sector group.
He most recently served as a senior adviser at the Internal Revenue Service, where he worked with the IRS commissioner to integrate departmental activities related to the Affordable Care Act, Grant Thornton said Tuesday.
Srikant Sastry, Grant Thornton national managing principal of advisory services, said Taylor will apply his three-decade experience to help the company grow its financial management offerings in the domestic and international government sector.
Before the IRS, Taylor was chief financial officer at the Labor Department and held senior leadership roles at the departments of Homeland Security and Commerce.
He is a member of the Association of Government Accountants and has received various professional recognitions, including the 2004 Presidential Rank Award.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Old Dominion University and an M.P.A. in finance from the University of Delaware.
