Hilton Romanski: Cisco Acquires Assemblage

Cisco w-BorderCisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) has moved to expand its presence in the mobility and cloud computing markets by acquiring collaboration tools provider Assemblage for an undisclosed amount.

Hilton Romanski, senior vice president for business development at Cisco, said Friday that Assemblage’s team of web development engineers will join Cisco’s collaboration technology group.

Romanski wrote on Cisco’s blog that the companies seek to “provide simple, easy-to-use solutions that help employees work smarter together from virtually anywhere.”

Assemblage has developed real-time systems for users to collaborate via Web browsers and mobile devices in cloud environments.

The company’s technology is designed to work with third party cloud services and coordinate with different file types.
