Mythili Raman, Former Acting DOJ Division Head, Joins Covington & Burling

Mythili Raman, formerly acting assistant attorney general for the Justice Department‘s criminal division, has joined Covington & Burling as a partner in the law firm’s white-collar defense and litigation practices.

The 18-year DOJ veteran oversaw work of more than 600 federal prosecutors and led a set of national and international criminal law enforcement initiatives in her most recent role at the department, Covington said Tuesday.

She also led investigations of financial fraud, market manipulation, money laundering, financial sanctions violations, foreign and public corruption, healthcare fraud, intellectual property theft and cybercrime.

Prior to that role, she served as principal deputy assistant attorney general and chief of staff for the criminal division for four years and acting chief of staff for one year.

Raman has also served as senior counsel to the deputy attorney general and is also a former appellate chief and division branch office chief.
