Level 3 Communications (NYSE: LVLT) will work to update and centralize a communications system into a single platform for more than 300 federal courts in the U.S.

The company won the work through the General Services Administration‘s Networx Enterprise contract and will also manage local and long-distance voice services between the courts, Level 3 said Thursday.

Ed Morche, senior vice president of East region enterprise and government markets at Level 3, said the company aims to help the court system address “complexities and communicate more effectively across all its locations throughout the United States.”

Level 3 will also provide a IP virtual private network, optical wavelength, Ethernet access services, network routing options and redundancy services to the U.S.

The U.S. Courts of Appeals, U.S. District Courts, U.S. Bankruptcy Courts and U.S. Courts of Special Jurisdiction will use the network, Level 3 said.
