Exelis (NYSE: XLS) plans to open a regional headquarters in Melbourne to address aerospace, defense and information security requirements of customers across the Asia-Pacific region.
The company will also build a facility in Melbourne that will research, develop, test and integrate technology in areas such as networking, analytics and electronic warfare, Exelis said Wednesday.
David Melcher, Exelis’ president and CEO, said the company is committed to growing its footprint in the Australian and Asia-Pacific markets.
âThe decision to establish our Asia Pacific headquarters in Melbourne was heavily influenced by the regionâs robust engineering talent, growing market opportunities and the unwavering support from the Victorian Government, â Melcher added.
Exelis’ new facility will also provide system deployment support services to clients in more than 30 countries.
The company expanded its presence in Melbourne last year by acquiring communications technology provider C4i Pty. Ltd.
