Former Virginia Sen. Chuck Robb to Chair MITRE’s Board of Trustees

Chuck Robb, who served as Virginia’s governor from 1982 to 1986 and two terms in the Senate, has been appointed chairman of the board of trustees at MITRE Corp.

He has served on MITRE’s board since 2001 and became vice chairman in 2006, MITRE said Wednesday.

“Sen. Robb has brought a wealth of knowledge in national security to MITRE’s board, ” MITRE President and CEO Alfred Grasso said.

Robb served as a senator from 1989 to 2001 and held memberships on the intelligence, armed services and foreign relations committees.

After leaving Capitol Hill, he chaired the Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction in 2004 and served on the U.S. President’s Intelligence Advisory Board.

James Schlesinger, a former defense and energy secretary, chaired MITRE’s board of trustees for 27 years until his death on March 27.
