David Melcher: Exelis Services Spinoff ‘Vectrus’ to Offer Tech, Supply Chain Mgmt Services

Exelis (NYSE: XLS) has decided on a name for the future military and government services company that will spinoff from Exelis sometime during the summer of this year.

Currently part of Exelis’ mission systems segment, Vectrus will have 7, 000 employees in more than 100 locations across 18 countries and has operated in the services market for more than 50 years as part of Exelis and ITT (NYSE: ITT) before that, Exelis said Tuesday.

David Melcher, president and CEO of Exelis, said Vectrus will work to “build on a legacy of delivering infrastructure asset management, logistics and supply chain management services, as well as information technology and network communication services, to U.S. government customers worldwide.”

Vectrus is intended to blend the words “vector” and “trust, ” Exelis says.
