SAP Team Sets World Record for Largest Data Warehouse

big data2A team of engineers led by SAP have set a new Guinness World Record for the largest data warehouse, four times larger than the previous record.

The 12.1 petrabyte data warehouse was built by engineers from SAP, BMMsoft, Red Hat, Hewlett Packard (NYSE: HPQ), NetApp and Intel (NASDAQ: INTC), the company announced Wednesday.

Engineers created the data warehouse through the SAP HANA platform and SAP IQ 16 software, with BMMsoft Federated EDMT that runs on HP DL560 server.

The team also used Xeon E7-4870 processors from Intel and stored on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and NetApp FAS6290 and E5460.

SAP and its partners had previously set a world record for loading and indexing big Data at 34.3 terabytes per hour.
