Robert Vrij, formerly global sales chief at Alcatel-Lucent, has joined Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) in November as senior vice president and general manager of enterprise sales for the Americas, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.
Regional leaders in the U.S., Canada and Latin America region will report to Vrij as he takes on a newly-created position in the company, Spencer Ante and Sam Schechner write.
Vrij will report to Bill Veghte, executive vice president and general manager of the enterprise group, HP’s second largest business unit that oversees computer servers, networking equipment and storage.
Prior to joining HP, Vrij was in charge of Alcatel-Lucent’s global strategic alliances and was previously its head of sales and operations for North America.
He is also a former president and CEO of Openwave Systems and held global sales leadership positions at Genband and Lucent Technologies.
