OMB, IRS Vet Daniel Werfel Joins Boston Consulting Group’s Public Sector Practice

Daniel Werfel, formerly acting commissioner at the Internal Revenue Service, has joined The Boston Consulting Group as a director of the firm’s Washington-based public sector practice.

With BCG’s public sector team, Werfel will work with government agencies worldwide on finances, service delivery,  transformation plans and risk assessment initiatives, the firm said Monday.

In his temporary role at the IRS, he started a risk management program and appointed the tax agency’s first-ever chief risk officer.

He is also a 16 year-veteran of the Office of Management and Budget,  where he handled financial management, procurement and personnel policy in roles such as federal controller and deputy management director.

Werfel is a National Academy of Public Administration fellow, has been listed in Federal Computer Week’s Federal 100 and was named GCN’s Government IT Executive of the Year in 2013.
