Matt Wolken: Dell Seeks Analytics Portfolio Growth With StatSoft Purchase


acquisitionDell has bought predictive analytics software developer StatSoft for an undisclosed amount as part of efforts to grow Dell’s enterprise data management offerings.

StatSoft’s products are designed to help enterprises predict business trends, manage operational systems and visualize big data on premise or in the cloud, Dell said Monday.

Matt Wolken, vice president and general manager of information management at Dell Software, said the companies aim to develop new tools to facilitate data-based decision making.

StatSoft’s technology is used for statistical analysis, machine learning and desktop information modeling in the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, financial services and technology sectors.

Tulsa-Okla.-based StatSoft has offices in 25 countries and offer software products in various languages.
