Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) will work with the Naval Health Research Center to investigate the effects of stress on warfighters under a potential five-year, $7.3 million contract.

The single-award, cost-plus fixed-fee contract contains one base year and four one-year options, Leidos said Monday.

The NHRC’s behavior sciences and epidemiology department aims to further understand factors related to mental disorders in military personnel and how lifestyle behaviors could affect health, performance and healthcare costs.

“Finding ways to improve the health and wellness of our military personnel and their families is important to the nation, which means it’s important to Leidos, ” said Steve Comber, president of Leidos’ health group.

The department researches combat and operational stress, posttraumatic stress, misconduct, substance use, suicide and career-span health and wellness issues.
