General Dynamics NASSCO Awarded $128M to Detail, Design 3rd Navy MLP Ship Conversion

general dynamics logoGeneral Dynamics NASSCO will carry out detail design and construction work to modify a mobile landing platform ship for the U.S. Navy under a $128.5 million contract modification.

The subsidiary is working to convert the MLP 3 ship into an afloat forward staging base variant and aims to complete the work by October 2015, the Defense Department said Wednesday.

The Navy is obligating $95, 093, 500 at the time of award from its national defense sealift funds for fiscal years 2012 through 2014.
