Elbit Systems (NASDAQ: ESLT) will provide an Hermes 900 unmanned aircraft system to Brazil’s air force for joint safety and security missions with the service’s existing Hermes 450 fleet during this summer’s World Cup.

The company said Wednesday its AEL Sistemas subsidiary in Brazil will also provide technical, engineering, logistics and maintenance services for the Brazilian air force air force.

Elad Aharonson, Elbit’s UAS division general manager, said the Brazil plans to use both sets of UAS for intelligence missions, border security, perimeter control of infrastructure, Safe City programs and large-scale events.

The Hermes 900 is built to fly at maximum altitudes of 30, 000 feet with communications systems that work to help transmit imagery to a ground control station.
