Army Orders 13 Lockheed Target Acquisition Radars for $145M


lockheed martinThe U.S. Army will acquire 13 additional counterfire target acquisition radars from Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) under a $145, 921, 161 contract modification.

Lockheed will also provide 13 corresponding sets of on-board spares for the AN/TPQ-53 radars to the Army, the Defense Department said Thursday.

Lockheed built the Q-53 to defend against adversarial mortars and rockets by detecting, classifying, tracking and determining locations of indirect fire in either 360- or 90-degree modes.

Work will occur in Liverpool, N.Y. through Nov. 30, 2016.
