Thales Starts Cybersecurity, Info Systems Business Line; Richard Moulds on Securing Enterprise & Cloud Data

Thales logoThales Group has established a new business line within its secure communications and information systems global unit to offer cybersecurity products to customers in the critical infrastructure, research and financial services industries.

The group’s Critical Information Systems and Cybersecurity business has 5, 000 employees and aims to generate as much as $700 million in annual revenue, Thales said.

The service-focused portfolio is designed to help clients prevent, detect and monitor digital threats for enterprise IT systems.

“Encryption is the most widely proven and accepted method to secure sensitive data both within the enterprise and the cloud, but it’s no silver bullet, ” Richard Moulds, vice president of strategy for Thales e-Security, said this summer about a Thales study on securing sensitive data.

“Decisions still need to be taken over where encryption is performed and critically, who controls the keys, ” Mould noted.

“Repeated attacks on the vital networks of major nations and the surge in cyber espionage activity have made cybersecurity one of the major challenges of the 21st century, ” the company added in its announcement.
