Hexagon Buys Multicopter Systems Provider Aibotix; Ola Rollén Comments

acquisitionHexagon AB (NASDAQ: OMX) has bought intelligent aerial multicopter systems developer Aibotix for an undisclosed amount.

Kassel, Germany-based Aibotix has been integrated into Hexagon’s photogrammetric and mapping technologies business, Hexagon said Tuesday.

“The growing number of applications for UAV-based solutions offers huge growth potential, especially in areas that require frequent and local updates such as smart city applications, dynamic GIS, and emergency response, ” said Ola Rollén, Hexagon president and CEO.

Aibotix manufactures the Aibot X6 vertical takeoff and landing UAV for the industrial inspection, aerial mapping, surveying, utility and security clients.
