3D Systems Corp. (NYSE: DDD) has bought Xerox Corp.’s (NYSE: XRX) color printing technology and some development labs for $32.5 million, Design News reported Wednesday.
Cabe Atwell writes Xerox’s Solid Ink engineering and development teams for product design and materials science will be integrated into 3D Systems’ portfolio.
Avi Reichental, 3D Systems’ president and CEO, said the company intends for the acquisition to grow its market presence and seek new business opportunities, according to the report.
3D Systems is also aiming for a research and development spending hike of between 75 and 100 percent in order to increase revenue, Design News reports.
