Rob Kinnear Rejoins GCS as Company Makes Watson Tech Services Push

GCSRob Kinnear, a former senior applications engineer at GCS’ spinoff company TerraEchos., has rejoined GCS as director of strategic partnerships.

Kinnear will work to develop big data services based on IBM‘s (NYSE: IBM) Watson cognitive computing system for new markets, GCS said Tuesday.

He most recently served as senior applications engineer at TerraEchos after four years as geospatial solutions engineer at GCS.

Alex Philp, GCS president, said the company is developing custom big data services called GeoAPI’s for deep content analysis and evidence-based reasoning using the Watson intelligence technology.

The GeoAPI’s portfolio is intended for markets such as healthcare, retail, travel, defense, energy, utilities and government.

IBM’s Watson platform works to combine natural language processing, machine learning and hypothesis generation in order to answer queries.
