David Adams: Curtiss-Wright Seeks to Grow Surface Tech Biz With CCRS Acquisition

Dave Adams Curtiss-WrightCurtiss-Wright (NYSE: CW) has moved to further build up its surface technologies business unit as the company acquired turbine engine repairs provider Component Coating and Repair Services Ltd for $25 million cash.

Charlotte, N.C.-based Curtiss-Wright aims to grow its engineered coatings portfolio, including thermal spray and shot peening technologies, for aerospace and industrial applications, the company said Monday.

“We intend to leverage the synergies that exist between our coatings businesses, while also supporting surface technologies’ strategic objective to advance up the technological chain and expand the breadth of their technology and customer bases, ” said David Adams, president and CEO of Curtiss-Wright.

CCRS was founded in 1995 and produces sacrificial aluminum coatings for aerospace turbine engines and provides component repairs for industrial gas turbines from two facilities in the U.K.
