Elbit Systems Creates New Unit to House Intell, Cyber and IT; Bezhalel Machlis Comments

ElbitLogoElbit Systems has created a new division to manage its portfolio of information technology, cybersecurity, intelligence and electro-optical offerings, Defense News reported Monday.

Barbara Opall-Rome writes Intelligence and Electro-Optics Elop combines the portfolios from Elbit’s systems land and C4I business and Elop subsidiary.

Adi Dar, Elop managing director, was appointed to oversee the new organization, according to the report.

“We decided to develop this field in a cross-corporate manner that will allow us to vector existing capabilities into force multipliers for future growth, ” Elbit President and CEO Bezhalel Machlis told employees in a letter obtained by Defense News.

Opall-Rome writes Elbit also established an intradivisional organization to deliver independent research and development functions across the enterprise.

“We’ve adopted a new model for more comprehensive, corporate-wide benefit of our IR&D activities, ” Machlis told Defense News.

Machlis also said the company will explore dual-use technologies for the avionics, medical and energy sectors.

The Israeli company had $2.9 billion in sales last year and currently employs 12, 000 workers, according to Defense news.
