John Gilligan Joins Schafer as President, COO; Michael Griffin Comments

John Gilligan, formerly president of information technology and cybersecurity consulting firm Gilligan Group, has joined Arlington, Va.-based technical services and engineering contractor Schafer Corp. as president and chief operating officer.

The 25-year government and industry veteran will oversee Schafer’s day-to-day operations and help to set and communicate the company’s strategic direction and goals, Schafer said Thursday.

Michael Griffin, Schafer chairman and CEO, said Gilligan will also work to help the company expand into new areas.

Gilligan’s career in the private sector also includes senior vice president of SRA International‘s defense sector.

Before entering industry, he served in civilian government roles such as chief information officer at the Air Force and the Energy Department.

He has also served the Air Force’s program executive officer for battle management and control.
