MDA Plans $3B SM-3 Production Contract for Raytheon

Raytheon logoThe U.S. Missile Defense Agency plans to award Raytheon‘s (NYSE: RTN) missile systems business a potential three-year, $3 billion contract for Standard Missile-3 weapons.

MDA expects to start awarding the sole-source contract’s funds to Raytheon in fiscal year 2015 under the agency’s Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense Program, according to a FedBizOpps notice posted Tuesday.

The agency could seek a multiyear procurement authority for fiscal years 2015 and 2017 but could also award a fiscal 2015 annual contract with up to two pre-priced annual contract options if that authority is not approved, MDA said.

This award will cover production of up to 216 SM-3 missile interceptors and includes options for development, engineering, integration and testing support services.
