Luka Mucic, current head of global finance at SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) and a global managing board member, has been promoted to chief financial officer at the German software conglomerate.

His appointment takes effect on July 1 and he will succeed Werner Brandt, who will step down from the executive board, SAP said Tuesday.

Mucic started his SAP career in 1996 within the legal department and served as CFO of German operations from 2008 to 2012.

He also serves on the company’s global managing board.

Brandt became SAP’s CFO in February 2001 and is responsible for corporate financial activities and administration of the company.

The company appointed him chief human resources officer and labor relations director in July 2013 in addition to his CFO role.
