Lockheed to Update Navy Submarine C4ISR Info Mgmt Software

lockheed martinLockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has won a $12.7 million contract to design and maintain software U.S. Navy personnel use to control and manage attack and missile submarines, Military Aerospace & Electronics reported Thursday.

John Keller writes Lockheed is the original contractor for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command’s Common Submarine Radio Room program.

CSRR control and management software works to integrate several Navy communications components such as the Automated Digital Network System and Digital Modular Radio into one architecture, Keller reports.

Submarines use the software to manage, process and distribute C4ISR (command, control communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) information, according to the report.
