general dynamics logoA General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) business unit has won a $5.8 million contract to supply the U.S. Special Operations Command with vehicles that are built to be transported inside the V-22 Osprey aircraft.

SOCOM awarded the potential three-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, the company said Monday.

The contract covers up to 10 non-developmental Flyer internally transportable vehicles as well as logistics, integration and training support services.

Tim Neaves, senior director of lightweight tactical vehicles at General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, said the business provides customers light-strike ITVs through a partnership with Flyer Defense LLC.

General Dynamics designed the Flyer to operate in rugged or off-road areas in different kinds of weather to support combat, search and rescue, command and control, reconnaissance and humanitarian missions.
