General Atomics to Build 24 Reaper UAVs for $377M

General AtomicsGeneral Atomics-Aeronautical Systems has been awarded a potential $377, 400, 000 delivery order to produce 24 MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles for the U.S. Air Force.

The Air Force is obligating $305 million in fiscal year 2013 aircraft procurement funds at the time of award and is also acquiring shipping containers, spares and support equipment, the Defense Department said Friday.

Contract funding also includes $3.8 million in fiscal 2012 standard equipment procurement funds and $68.6 million in fiscal 2012 spares procurement funds.

GA-ASI will perform work in Poway, Calif. through July 29, 2016.

France asked in July to purchase $1.5 billion in Reaper UAVs from the U.S. government through a foreign military sales transaction.
