Frank Bruno, a retired Air Force brigadier general and former logistics director for the branch’s Materiel Command, has joined Battelle as vice president for the nonprofit science and technology organization’s Air Force unit.

The 29-year military veteran will be responsible for managing Battelle’s Air Force account and the nonprofit’s relationships with clients, Battelle said Wednesday.

Steve Kelly, president of Battelle’s national security unit, said Bruno brings his military and technical experience to help contribute to the organization’s business with the Air Force market.

Bruno began serving as logistics director for Air Force Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio in June 2007 and was responsible for the command’s depot maintenance, supply management and sustainment transformation activities.

AFMC oversaw $6.5 billion in depot maintenance work and had more than 35, 000 workers at its three air logistics centers as of June 2007, the Air Force said.

He held senior management positions in the aerospace and defense sector before joining Battelle.
