Exelis Wins $128M to Operate Navy Comm Nets; Ken Hunzeker Comments

ExelisExelis (NYSE: XLS) has won a potential five-year, $121.8 million task order contract to help the U.S. Navy operate communications networks support for maritime operations centers and network operations centers.

The Fleet Systems Engineering Team order also covers support for satellite earth terminals and deployed Navy vessels, Exelis said Monday.

“This selection is a critical part of our work with the naval services and positions us to be able to provide this service to the Navy and Marine Corps globally, ” said Ken Hunzeker, president of the company’s mission systems division.

FSET includes one base year, two option years and two potential award periods.

The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command’s fleet readiness directorate awarded the order under the SeaPort-e indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity vehicle.
