Boeing, Raytheon Win Air Force Terminal Preparation Contracts

SatelliteBoeing (NYSE: BA) and Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) have each won a $1.86 million contract to prepare for production of satellite terminals for the U.S. Air Force.

These contracts are for the Family of Advanced Beyond-Line-of-Sight Terminals program’s first phase and the Air Force will select one contractor for phase two, the Air Force Materiel Command said in a Tuesday notice.

During phase two, the winning contractor will be responsible for full-rate and low-rate initial production, as well as support

FAB-T terminals are intended to provide nuclear and non-nuclear command and control users with extremely high frequency, wideband, protected and survivable communications terminals.

The Air Force also wants the terminals to feature presidential and national voice conferencing and tracking tools, telemetry and commanding technologies and be compatible with existing Milstar EHF satellite systems.
