Exelis Wins $115M Comm System Tools Order; Nick Bobay Comments

ExelisExelis (NYSE: XLS) has won a $115 million contract to build communications system components and operator training for an unnamed international customer.

The company will engineer the SpearNet radio units, the Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System and the VRC-92 radio system configurations at its Fort Wayne, Ind.-based facility, the company said Thursday.

Nick Bobay, Exelis president and general manager of night vision and tactical communications systems, said the company’s SINCGARS offering will serve as communications asset of the customer.

Exelis will also produce PRC-119 Manpack radio systems with GPS, Spearhead handheld radios systems, spare parts for the radio systems and perform SpearNet training services.
