Dean Popps Joins Global Integrated Security Board; David Gompert Comments

dean poppsDean Popps, a former senior executive at the Defense Department, has been appointed a board director at Global Integrated Security Inc.

He most recently served as acting assistant Army secretary for acquisition, logistics and technology and as the Army’s acquisition executive under the George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations, Global Strategies Group said July 9.

David Gompert, GIS board chairman, said Popps brings experience in the U.S. procurement process and knowledge of the defense industrial base to the company.

Popps also served as principal deputy Army assistant secretary for ALT from 2004 through 2007, where he managed the $20 billion fund for Iraq’s rehabilitation program.

He joined the Pentagon’s Baghdad-based Coalitional Provisional Authority in 2003 as director of industrial conversion to the coalition, where he worked to help transfer authority to the country’s new government and establish the country’s Ministry of Science and Technology.
