Chirantan Desai Appointed EMC Emerging Technology Products President; David Goulden Comments

EMCChirantan Desai, formerly executive vice president of information management at Symantec (NASDAQ: SYMC), has joined EMC Corp. (NYSE: EMC) as president of the emerging technology products division.

Desai will oversee the development of new products and new business groups that focus on disruptive technologies,  EMC said Thursday.

He will report to David Goulden, president and chief operating officer.

Goulden said Desai will work to help the emerging technology products division fulfill its charter through his storage and security background.

The division will build storage arrays, storage hardware and software for servers, hybrid cloud portals and computing storage.

Desai managed Symantec’s backup and recovery, storage, cluster file system and archiving offerings before joining EMC.

He also held the senior vice president role in Symantec’s endpoint and mobility group and served as endpoint and message security groups lead engineer.
