URS Wins Defense Dept Medical Countermeasure Subcontract; Mark Costello Comments

URS logoURS Corp. (NYSE: URS) will provide project and construction management services to the Defense Department for a disease prevention program under a subcontract from Nanotherapeutics.

The Medical Countermeasures Advanced Development and Manufacturing program involves construction of a new vaccine laboratory on 3.5 acres of land in Alachua, Fla., URS said Thursday.

DoD aims for the MCM ADM program to help develop defenses against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear events and infectious disease outbreaks that affect military personnel.

Mark Costello, general manager of URS’ industrial and process group, said the company will use its experience in manufacturing and construction and project management as a Nanotherapeutics industry partner.

The company will also help carry out control and procurement functions and could also perform construction activities.
