Siemens Energy will manufacture 116 wind turbines that Portland General Electric intends to use for a power plant to supply about 84, 000 U.S. households with renewable electricity.
Components of the equipment to be installed at the 267-megawatt Tucannon River Wind Farm in Washington state will be fabricated at facilities in Iowa and Kansas, Siemens said Tuesday.
The company also has a five-year commitment to provide maintenance services for the facility, which is targeted to begin operations in 2015.
Siemens also supplied wind turbines to a 343-MW power plant adjacent to the Tucannon River Wind Farm.
Both facilities are part of the Lower Snake River renewable energy project.
Siemens Energy says it earned $36.8 billion in revenues from products and services offered in the electricity, oil and gas sectors for the 2012 fiscal year.
