General Dynamics Wins $212M for Navy Destroyer Deckhouse, Launch System

general dynamics logoGeneral Dynamics (NYSE: GD) has won a potential $212 million contract to build a steel deckhouse and missile launcher for a U.S. Navy destroyer, Reuters reported Friday.

Andrea Shalal-Esa writes the company will install the structures on a third Zumwalt-class destroyer under construction at its facility in Bath, Maine.

Citing a Pentagon notice, Shalal-Esa reports the fixed-price-plus-incentive-fee contract will run through December 2016.

Reuters reports General Dynamics is building two other Zumwalt-class destroyers under a $1.9 billion contract awarded by the Navy in September 2011.

The company is scheduled to complete work on the first destroyer in fiscal year 2014 and the second ship in fiscal 2016, Shalal-Esa reports.
