Brian Chappel Appointed Northrop F-35 Program Head; Patricia McMahon Comments

northrop Grumman_BLUEBrian Chappel, a two-decade veteran of Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), has been named vice president and program manager of the F-35 program.

He will oversee costs, schedule, quality, customer satisfaction and technical services related to production of the F-35’s center fuselage for prime contractor Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), Northrop said Tuesday.

Prior to this appointment, Chappel served as vice president of business management and chief financial officer at the company’s advanced development programs business area.

“Brian has proven himself very capable of leading business and program efforts in what is a highly complex and competitive industry, ” Patricia McMahon, Northrop sector vice president and general manager of military and aircraft systems.

Chappel has managed business development, pricing, contracting and proposal functions during his Northrop Career and held leadership roles for the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System project.

He joined the company in 1993 after serving in the U.S. Air Force.
