Report: EADS Mulls Rename for Reorg

Eads logoEADS is set to reorganize in a move that could include adopting the corporate name of its Airbus commercial aircraft business unit, Reuters reported Thursday.

Citing several sources, Tim Hepher and Sabine Siebold write EADS is reviewing strategies for its aerospace and defense activities and the company’s board will meet at the end of the month to discuss the plan.

EADS CEO Tom Enders launched the strategic review after merger talks last year between the company and BAE Systems did not close with a deal, the report says.

Hepher and Siebold report EADS aimed to balance revenue of military and commercial operations by 2020 and could drop that goal because of the failed merger attempt.

Reuters reports EADS is facing market pressure to focus more resources on its commercial business.
