Lynn Martin, who joined VMware (NYSE: VMW) last year, has been appointed vice president of the U.S. public sector group.
Martin will oversee a team responsible for helping federal, state, local and education customers adopt cloud computing and virtualization technology, VMware said Monday.
She will be based in Reston, Va. at the company’s public sector east coast briefing center and education center of excellence.
Prior to this appointment, Martin served as VP of professional services for the public sector and also oversaw cloud management sales in that role.
She joined VMware from Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ), where she most recently served as VP and general manager of its federal civilian agencies organization.
Martin has also held leadership roles in the public sector practices of Compaq and Digital Equipment Corp.
